I split the discussion of the new seatbelt report. I moved most of the relevant research oriented posts to this forum and renamed the thread. Hope both threads still make sense.  :)

(I probably wouldn't have moved this post, but I needed one of my posts to edit.)
This post originally said:

That's pages 15-84 and 15-85 from the Fisher Body service manual. I looked at those, but didn't use them. :)
Nice shot of the location.

Since there is interest and the rear shoulder belts are relevant, I'm adding them.
Thought I was done with this......

Kurt, I thought CRG reports are never done :)

Kurt,

Just noticed something, the report says "All standard belts used the letter A for the plant code and deluxe Camaro belts used the letters C, E, & F."  I have standard belts in my 68 and they all have the letter E!?!?

Side note too, my retractors are dated 4 weeks earlier than all the rest of the belts; 46 to 50 for all others (except 1 missing tag).  Not sure if that means anything, just thought I'd share the info.  99.9% sure the belts are original to the car as it had the original carpet in the car when I got her.

Again, Great Report-Enjoyed it thoroughly!!!

Chris,
Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Turns out a few 68 LA cars did have a different plant code on the standard belts. Not many and I missed it. Some cars only have one position that has the other plant code. And it's throughout the year.

Can you email me the data on your belts? Thanks!

Kurt, I just noticed something.  The deluxe buckle pic is not correct.  You have pictured a 67-9 and a 70+ buckle.  But it should be a 67-8 and a 69+.  All the 69 deluxe belts I have and seen are the changed version.

I emailed you about this. (I sent you a pic of three dlx buckles.)That picture on the left is actually a buckle from a 69.
I'm not convinced it wasn't a mid-year change. Something I'm looking into.

Chris,
Thanks! And the pics don't have to be *that* high of a resolution. :)

Kurt, yes you did.  I did not make the connection.  The latest 68 version buckle I have seen is 35C68 or there abouts.  everything from the 40sC68 week had the changed buckle from what I recall passing through my hands.  But nothing is certain :)

I have a 69 with deluxe belts dated 34C68. Can I help?

Sure, Jonesy!  In the CRG seatbelt report, does yours look like the pic labled 67-69 or the one labeled 70+?  thanks!

Jonesy

Okay, I have 34C68 and 38C68 belts all original to my car. 11B VanNuys.

Looks like I have 2 that are the 70+ and the reat are 67-69. I think the 2 38C68 are the later version.
I know for a fact these have never been astray from the car.

Do you need the pic of a 67 shoulder belt tag?? I noticed you didnt have one of those.

Kurt, do you have any idea what the the letters and numbers stamped into the buckles and clips stand for?  For example, the right front lap belt retractor clip has "981" stamped on it while the left side retractor clip has "H348" stamped on it.     ???

Thanks again for your research!

Paul

Paul, not sure what the 981 is, but I have seen what looks like julian dates stamped on the buckles and tongues. H348 might be a Hamill from day 348 (early Dec ?)

KevinW

Jonesy, thanks for the pics! so the 34C68 are the older style and the 38C68 is the newer style? Thanks
