Your 68 model car was made in 67.  The dist. stamp is the date it was made up, not the model it's for.

September '67 distributor is fine in an October '67-built '68 if the distributor date is prior to the engine assembly date.

It appears to me his car was made in the 68 "model" year in the 4th week of September (10D) in 1967 and his distributor was made September 5th 1967.  The distributor would seem to be a match to me.  What have I overlooked?

It's like John Z said, if it's before the date on the engine assembly stamp, you're cool.

John, how were you able to edit your response (post #16) almost 26 hrs after your original one?  My post was based on yours but now that you have changed it mine appears out of place or not to refer back to anything.  If you have editing power to remove mine then please do.  Thanks.

68Z,  distributer part numbers are marked on the unit next to the date for the correct motor it goes with.
