Curious as to why a guy would make a convertible into a coupe? I've seen coupes made into convertibles.

It's not. It's two different cars. The convertible is real and the coupe has a fake VIN tag.

10 years ago did A BUNCH of work to the convertible 124679N567808. I sectioned in the dash, the outer wheel houses, trunk drop, and painted the car.
Here is a link to the album of photos when I did the car (2013) for a customer in Charlotte NC. He traded it to Rick Hendrick and Rick had Jerry do a report on the car.
I was pretty well pleased with how it turned out and really pleased when I saw what Jerry had written.

Great job on the body work. 10 years later it's described and certified as a rare survivor!

In terrific "survivor" condition the Camaro looks to have had only one repaint during its life in the original Cortez Silver with black rally striping. Mr. MacNeish stated in his inspection report that "it appears that this Camaro has been kept in a rust-free garage over the past 47 years. The complete sub frame, control arms, rear axle, floors and interior are in very good condition and show no signs of age, pitting, rust or repair. The body on this car is extremely straight and un damaged."

the convertible is real, has been owned by a number of different collectors but was probably not registered since 2015.  Rick Hendrick had it from the time Lawrence traded it for a 2015-16 Corvette until 2021? Since then THE REAL SILVER X66 CONVERTIBLE has gone through a couple of auctions and dealers.
The car has aged really well.
