Well let's see some proof good sir! I mean you're about as close to a pilot car as you can get.

My '68 Camaro, former Stock Eliminator race car, carried Norwood VIN# 300200.  If I remember correctly, the firewall date tag indicated "083".  The paperwork indicates that it was taken off the street in about 1971 and was eventually purchased as a roller from a salvage yard in about 1975 for $400.  The odometer in the car read 14,XXX miles but I could not verify that it was the original instrument cluster.

That is an interesting car.
Body #2, so it was the second convertible scheduled. Loaded with options, including front shoulder belts.
Note the interior code, 712-E.

Kurt I noticed that interior code too. Why the suffix "E" ?

On the early 68 LOS cars, the 67 interior suffix was carried over. I think it was a mix-up that was resolved. Early NOR cars don't have it.

1967 interior codes also have a hyphenated suffix that indicate seat and headrest type:
"Z" indicated standard A50 Strato Bucket seats (no headrest)
"Y" indicated RPO AS2 headrest added to the A50 bucket seats
"H" indicated RPO AL4 Stato Bench seats (no headrest)
"T" indicated RPO AS2 headrests added to the AL4 bench seats.

What would the -E code represent?

QuoteField E?

Yes. In this case, standard black bucket seats with head restraints.

I think it's the lack of head restraints.
Obviously some thought went into generating new codes, but they ultimately decided they didn't need the suffix.

How about those white "SS" stripes as noted in the description. Has to increase the value of that car having that rare option,...lol.
