Hello all,
Just wanted to ask this question, still don't know if I have an SS350 or not but, would it have been possible to get an SS350 with single exhaust? My particular car does not have the left side exhaust hanger plate. Thanks in advance....Clint

If it's a coupe and doesn't have the left side hanger plate welded to the rail, it wouldn't be an SS; they all had dual exhausts.

excuse my question here,but can someone shine the light here on what is the difference here on a coupe's exhaust and on a convertible?

I am pretty sure it has to do with the extra body support that would have to be put under the car due to the fact it is a convertible. Without the roof to support the body, extra support had to be welded underneath the car, thus getting in the way of allowing dual exhaust.

Actually, the main problem is the brace that is bolted into place but it's a bottle neck all the same. It's very prone to produce annoying rattles unless everything is positioned correctly and anchored adequately.

I have a convertible SS and I have the exhaust bracket. Isn't the bracket there on all SS cars regardless of convertible for not?

So ALL 69 SS coupe's had dual exhuast and the hanger bracket on the side of the frame? So if you bought a 69 coupe without a factory dual exhaust bracket and it was purchased as an origianl SS, you got duped? I'm not sure this question was ever answered with confidence here...so convertible 69's didn't have the welded dual exhaust bracket?

So if you find a bare shell, and it doesn't have the dual exhaust bracket, it couldn't be a Z28 or an SS...but it could have been a plain jane or an RS?

Convertibles had heavier gauge metal in that area and didn't need the exhaust doubler plate.

If it doesnt have the drivers side exhaust bracket and it is a Coupe, it cannot be an SS or z/28.

Having the plate is not proof of SS. Easy enought to add one if it helps dupe a buyer. So much fraud today I would only rely on an expert's inspection if I was looking for anything more than a plain coupe, or a GM of Canadia certification. (I would verify the Canada documentation with GM Canada) There are more SS and Z's today than GM ever built. There is no documant that can not be faked, scanned, and altered with modern technology.

All the plate indicates is dual exhaust, optional on any 8 cylinder Camaro. I used to remove the plate from our parts cars, takes less than a minute. Every 69 has one inside the RH frame rail so they are easy to find.

Fake paperwork is quite easy to spot if you know what to look for. No one gets all the ECLs correct, some prices changed during the year, some options require other options. Don't trust a copy of anything.
