Hi Walt,

I haven't use any ceramic coatings on my 67 but several of my car friends do and they have nothing but good things to say about it, especially when it comes to removing items such as bird poop and bug splatter. Some of my friends use ceramic coating on their motorcycles and they say it is very easy to remove the road and bug spatter that gets on the front of the fuel tank and fork tubes.

Myself, my car stays in the garage most of the time so I just use a nano wax (Wizards) to maintain protection and I'll dust it from time to time using JaxWax detail spray.

Have not used any ceramic coatings on any my cars. My 68 has only been waxed a couple of times over the 20 years I have had it, I mainly keep the wax up with detail spray from Adams. It seems to work really good as it has kept my other showcar spotless and with a very nice shine when setup in indoor shows with all the lighting on it.

One of the best products on the market is Zaino car care protection which if applied properly will last years, I have used this on dozens of cars over the last 18 years and use nothing but that product, the only problem I have had was during a NCRS judging event with a survivor '67 Vette is that the judges tried to deduct points thinking it was clear coated so I have to take lacquer thinner to the paint to prove it!

X2 on the Zaino.

Nothing better.

I go to cruise nights and people look at my 28 yr old paint and swear it was just applied.

Hi,

No comment in particular regarding Ceramics but I have been using a wash/wax spray the last several months called Aero Wash. it's been in the aviation world for many years utilized by the aircraft detailers. Takes about an oz per wash. I use two soft cloth rags, one to wipe the wet and one to polish after. If I get lazy and don't cover the car I blow the dust off the paint prior to application. Takes about an 1-1.5 hrs to do the entire car.

I had the owner of the local detail shop, that does apply ceramic coatings tell me to try Jescar power lock plus.  It goes on nice, comes off  nice and seems to keep the car looking clean after a rain.  I used it on my new Tahoe and looks great.  Its a polymer sealant.  He told me they liked the results and does not cost $1000.  I am pretty sure at the time, thats what they charged and had your car at least a day for what they were using.

I have not ceramic coated any of the old rascals but my truck, wife's car, and three other newer toys I ceramic coated using Avalonking armour shield.  Not difficult but lots of prep prior to application which I used two coats. Probably not as top shelf as professionally used ceramics but they run $1200 plus per vehicle.

I am a little in the dark on ceramic coatings. I see some that say "shine rivals high quality carnuba wax". Is it protection we are looking or shine?
