There are a couple of 480 distributors on ebay today that appear to be *real ones*...  IMO...  What do you fellas think?     9D2   and   9A10

Numbers are stamped pretty deep on the 9D2 but they do appear to be correct fonts. It's a bargain at that price IMO, but suspect it'll climb much higher in the next 7 days.

Here's mine for comparison.

Just an obsessive-compulsive first gen car guy...

did I mention I like three pedals in a car?

I can tell you right now that this guy is a known scammer with many fake and restamped parts. I started a discussion over on Yenko.net regarding how much of a scumbag this guy really is.

My guess is the one in the pics and the one you get will be different.

Sure glad I'm not looking for this or other parts that are going for high prices. I wouldn't feel comfortable buying any of them.

If he's a scammer, then I'd agree with you, as the one pictured looks totally original to me..?

To clarify, the first link, the distributor looks genuine to me. The 2nd link, the guy is a known scammer and the distributor is a restamp.

The seller might be a scammer (I don't know), but based purely on the appearance of the distributor in this photo, I would believe it was original, as I can see no evidence of re-machining, restamping, or even 'cleaning'...  so what do you see that I cannot see??

I like the top cam on the shaft of the 9D2 unit looks consistent with distributors I've seen. The cam on the second doesn't look consistent. The 9D2 distributor doesn't confirm the 532 breaker cam? I like to see those pieces as that's what makes a Z28 dizzy perform otherwise you're just buying a correct case.

Totally agree Todd...    but the difference of opinion was re the actual stamping; one or more called it a 'restamped' part, but based on the photo...  I can't see that.   What do you think of the stamping?

I think the stamping on both looks good, I'm not a font expert but they look consistent.
There are a couple others on ebay now as well that look original.

I believe that 1111489 distributors are being used and acid washed and restamped to a 480. He is very good at this. At one point he had 9-10 different restamped dated 480's that sold in completed listings all listed for around the same price. No one comes across that many 480's and lists them at half of what they are worth.

Won't describe techniques, but there are several ways to make a desirable distributor from another.
Check out similar dist numbers (like 481, 488 and 489) and note the factory date codes on those.
