Big Block clutch fan

Hey Guys...gotta problem.  My BB Chevy Camaro engine is running "HOT".  Changed thermostat, coolant good.  Clutch fan...how does one check this to see if its working properly?  You should be able to hear it come on and off....correct???   Please comment with suggestions.  Thanks!!  Don

when engine is cold fan is free, coil expands when heats up and engages fan
