It *might* be worth close to that much (in terms of increased value to his car) to the person who owns '69 Z28  (VIN 124379N680067) which doesn't have it's original motor - assuming this one IS the correct motor...

... but to anyone else?  NO WAY...  I wouldn't give $800 for it.

PS.  I'd guess that the original cars that the great majority of these 'orphan' engines came in... are mostly crushed down to scrap metal by now.
Hey Gary, Antique comment I know, but... I'm sure you're right for a majority of orphans, but ours is just one example of a 69 Z28 without it's original block. There are a ton still out there and I'd say there's a pretty good chance that there are quite a few original blocks just waiting to match up.
I'm still looking for our Z28 block, 597037. I'd love to have it obviously, but if I found it for $8k he could keep looking for another sucker...

Dave, I didn't know you owned a Z28 in addition to your big block '69...  :)  Congratulations!

Yep, had it since the late 80s. X77. NOM obviously. Body is solid, but needs some work. It's still in black primer. Someone at some time changed out or painted the grill too.

I thought it was kind of different having a vinyl top too. Cortez silver. I wouldn't post in this thread again, but something tells me it's not hurting the sale @ $8k lol...

Here's a similar finished one I found. Black grill to boot! I don't know if that one is real though.

Very nice, Dave.  She is going to be a beauty.  Cortez Silver is a great color!

Would Daves car have had spoilers originally?

D80 didn't show up on the trim tag until later in the year if that's what you're asking.

I understand that. So you just have to go off of clues like the tension rods iin the trunk right?
Also what is the date on your hood?

I would imagine so. I never bothered to look at the rods. I always figured Z28s were always D80. I'm sure that's not the case though. I'm not sure on the hood date. The car is back east.

Did all 1969 Camaros have different size tension rods if the car had a spoiler or just cars built later?

All 69s, and only if it is a factory original spoiler equipped car.
