That's not even a plausible theory. 4P was an internal GM code. No way would a dealer even know about the code to make such a request. A LOS 4P is a small block car, no question.

this is one of 5 special order cars from clippinger chevy in Covina California . the color dark green special order by bob wingate the top sales manager of clippinger and a well know performance sales man . it was a special paint 427 conversion from clippinger . and it has docs from the sales man who ordered it and sold . 12 bolt 373 pj code rear 4 speed rs/ss org panels front to back vary rare car only 2 cars have surfaced a 67 z/28 and my green rs/ss out of 5 cars

Rear end is dated 2 months before the car. Way early for such a common ratio. Combined with the newer 5 leaf springs, there is a good chance it's not original.

I think the axle stamp is fine, and I think the date is fine for that car.  There are others with similar spreads.

So you have others in the database that the stamp is that far over towards the drum?
