Just a 158 before mine (124379L503829). I am surprised it would be the 6th Z off the line though, since my car is a 10B, and I thought they had been making them for over a month at that point. I wonder how he came to that conclusion?

It was just puffery, a statement made with no basis in fact.

My info, gathered over many years, has 21 VN Z/28s with a lower VIN. That works out to 0.6% so it is safe to say there were plenty more.

Thanks for the pic Charles!

Charles, thanks for your reply ! I tried to go back and credit you with the photo, can't seem to do it ? I found it long ago, and came

across it in my disorganized file on my lap top.

What a cool photo, I'm sure it is a treasured memory for you and your navy buddy ! where was that taken in California , I see some

aircraft in the back ground ? Is there a link with you to the "Dyno Tune" Camaro in the photo as well ?

William, thanks for your reply and info  concerning the Car Life magazine photo of the '69 Z on a desert run. I have that magazine,

but couldn't get to it before posting.

I believe the STD Ratio avail contented with the Z28 was 3.73, so It would appear G80/3.73 would cover line cost of the Posi, then the RPO Upgrade optional avail at an added Additional Cost was the G84/4.10

Group/7 Went back and found the original thread I started back in March  2018. It tells the story from my friend Jim's recollection of how he purchased the car. I think it is pretty interesting reading
The picture was taken @ the San Fernando Drag Strip in the Spring of 1969.

'69 Z, wet street. looks to be mid '70s ?  judging by the cars in the background.

Side pipes, Cragars ? and a hood tach or some other gauge, those were the days !

group/7

Another 69 with side pipes, he's ready ! got the winter boots on ! those snows back in the day were like tractor tires  ::)

group/7

Is this a Camaro ?  looks like a drag car with custom paint. and what engine is in it ? there is a full size  '69 Chevy right rear, and

what looks like a '69 Camaro on the left just above the roof.

once again scroll l-r for full image  ::)

MO

Looks like a 69 non RS grille. Really custom paint; Z stripes, nose stripe, some sort of panel paint layout on the roof and maybe some striping on the side.
