I'm attempting a complete restoration (as close as possible)of a 68 camaro. My question is some parts are still avaliable through G.M..these parts are not N.O.S
I believe they're referred to as service replacement. If installed and taken to a judged event are the parts right or wrong? I saw a resource for identifying starters, but I can't remember what it was anybody have a idea? thanks

From an originality judging perspective, it depends how closely the part appears to match an original production part; many service replacement parts are "functionally equivalent", but may or may not look exactly the same as the original production part. You have to know what the original part looked like and what its identifying features were (configuration, casting numbers, date codes, finish, etc.) in order to determine how closely a service replacement (or reproduction) part matches an original production part.  :)
