Ran across a statement in a car magazine that made me curious if true . Partially quoted it is "with only 602 sold out of 1,002
produced for 1967."  If this is correct, what happened to the 400 unsold cars ?  Were they sold later as 68's or what ?

I've never heard there were more than 602 cars produced as RPO Z28 in 1967.

It's hard to believe everything that get's published, but I'm betting with the wealth of knowledge on here
there will be an answer of some kind.

It's in error - there were 602.

602 is the only number I'd ever heard of. Just goes to show, don't believe everything you read in a car magazine
until you can prove or disprove such.  Plenty of rumors out there.

I read something similar, only it said over 1000 engines were produced some engines were for over the counter sales

And that's not the only error in the article.

they seem to be mixed up with the SCCA rule. There was something about the SCCA required 1000 units factory built to be legal Trans Am car but they allowed the SS 350 production to be included with the Z/28 production to make the 1000 unit requirement

The holy grail of Z-28's.

Steve Kelly wrings out first 302-cid Z-28 at Riverside introduction in Nov. 1966. ???

Makes you wonder why there was a Rear Spoiler on that car, but not offered as an option on '67 Z28's ???

there is a magazine article on that Z and it had a prototype spoiler on it that was different then the production spoiler

the back looked to be more of a flat surface as compared to the more curved production unit

Still makes you wonder why it took so long for GM to get it into production.

It was presented to the press in October, with a 283 engine and was in production with a brand new engine design in December.  How long is that?  Couldn't do that today in less than about 3 years.
