Jeff thanks for the nice door knob yours looked alot better than my original but in no time (like you said) I had it all polished up like new. Thanks again!

HOGDADDY

Fwiw I used some Tripoli on my old original knob to cut thru grime and buffed em both with white Rouge and they definitely look better than new.

For the record.  I was not trying to jump ahead of anyone.  I was just simply saying, if anyone had any available - I would be interested.

Congrats!!!  I'm glad things worked out for you.

Either way - my plastic ones will serve me just fine, until I locate the correct ones.

I actually think the plastic ones may be correct also.
don't be so fast to change something just because a few people say something.

I know a lot of people who threw stuff away, only to find out years later those pieces -
although not typical, they were still correct, and in some cases even more desirable.

Thanks Jeff - I have been guilty of the same.  I will keep that in mind.

Here's the '67 knob data.  '67's with deluxe interior got the chrome metal knobs.  If it was std interior, they were plastic and color coded to the interior color of the car.

All '68's were plastic and color coded to the interior regardless of std or deluxe interiior.  '69's were all the same, chrome colored plasitc.

Hope this helps,

Jerry

Pacecarjeff

so how would you account for the plastic knobs that look exactly like the metal ones?

Jerry@CHP

Will have to check my D/B, some might be chrome colored plastic, I'll have to check when I have some time to dig through my notes.

Jerry.

Hey Jerry my car is standard interior but is a Z23 interior (could the chrome knob be part of Z23?) and my car had the chrome metal knob. I am almost certain its polished aluminum from factory because I see no chrome remnants anywhere and aluminum polish shines it right up like new.

Only 1 door had a knob other door knob is mia. I have had this car for almost 20 years and I am pretty sure it has original doors and although it is possible someone could have put metal knob in it before I got it. Anyways they sure look good to be so old after polish.
