Guys, I have a block that was sitting in my neighbors garage for years, came back from machining and now I own it.

VO319DZ
3956618
B179

Block has been decked, so I cant make out a partial VIN.

I was going to put it in a Deuce roadster

1 - is it worth anything to a Z28 guy, if so what? Trying to decide if its worth selling and buying a crate motor or building up.

Thanks!

How about a picture of the stamp pad.  The vin number should be stamped down by the oil filter.

That is a DZ engine block,  If I remember correctly (I had one myself) it is an early 1969 casting.  The VIN will be by the oil filter boss and very hard to see, possibly use a crayon to read it.   Do you have the rotating assembly?  Mine was V0130DZ and had spun a rod bearing very early in it's life and sat for years, it came with an old Camaro I bought.  I had mine tanked and all the parts cleaned, advertised it in the local paper and sold it to the first guy with $1500.  That was 7 years ago.  Wish I had it back now!!

If a guy were to need a block from that period you could expect to get around $2500 for the block with no rotating assembly or 186 heads... if you had a short block... $3500

If it was an LA car, the vin would be on the deck during that time.  Can you read any of the vin #.  19L...... or 19N......??

Thanks everyone for the comments - I asked the guy I got it from and he believes that it was a replacement block - which is why the lack of a VIN. I will attempt to post photos. Thanks!
