Well he could have had the accent stripes above the fenders as well.
I have seen many guys with newer 5th & 6th Gen Camaros do this, as well as fender slash stripes and many others. Sometimes guys can't leave well enough alone, or maybe they want to see the contrast with the stripes when viewing the car from different angles?

I don't get it, but I am not the type to add stripes to a car if it didn't come with them from the factory. (I'm dull)..
