Does anyone have the procedure for preping metal finishes like the hood latch and hood springs? I was told Zinc phosphate. How does it get applied and I assume once treated it will not rust.

Zinc is silver, it's grey phospate . The phospate coating will not prevent corrosion. It will need to be maintained. I have not done the treatment procedure, but sanblasting will leave a texture that the parts did not have pror to treatment. Others here have performed this as well as sending it out. Here's RAD's info, there's more on here somewhere: http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=1092.0;all

RamAirDave stated to blast the parts first and that's good enough for me. So apparently the texture left by blasting is fine. You'll find out when you do it.

I just had my brake booster, hood hinges and latch done back in August by Steve Gregori at Brakeboosters.com and they looked great.  Steve told me that sandblasting was the only way to get good results so I had them sandblasted and clean before I shipped them.  It cut down on cost and turn around time.  Call him and talk with him. He's a nice guy and will explain everything to you about the process and how to keep them looking good too.
