Hi -

Welcome to this forum!  I'm in the opposite situation you are in.  I have an original '68 Z/28 engine (vin 124378N391571) and I'm looking for the chassis.  In your search for the original engine for your car, please contact me if you find out any information on the above vin.  Here's a link to my post on this engine:

What is the build date on your car?  Good luck in your search!   :)

Thanks, I believe Jerry is aware of the engine (?) and I hope he is looking for me!  I also checked with Larry Eakin and he told me that he would notify me if he came across any info on that vin.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed.  Is your car in Eakin's registry?

hey jerry, how much should this engine be worth?  the guy wants $6500.00 does that seem fair. will it increase the value of the car. the engine is supposed to be complete except for manifolds and carb.

Jason -

  Let's see:

- 3917610 intake manifold: $300. - $500.
- one pair 3917291 date correct 2.02 cylinder heads: $600. - $750.
- 302 crankshaft: $600. - $1500.
- 1100814 date correct alternator: $700. - $1200.
- 1111467 date correct distributor: $1000. - $1800.
- water pump, deep groove pulleys, oil pan, alternator brackets, smog pump + brackets, fasteners, etc..: $1000.00 - ?
- the original block to your vehicle stamped with your vin and engine assemble date: PRICELESS!   :o

I'd jump on it before he changes his mind!   ;D

Paul,

You hit it right on the money.  About a 33% increase in value on the car.  I might have a dated carb in stock, I just bought an 812 or 813.  I'll have to check.
