Valve cover mark

I hate to be a pain-but the stuff  I am finding as I am restoring and documenting this car may help all of us and add to the database.

The right valve cover had a- 14 -paint mark on the rear side which would not be visable in the car.

What do you think that is for?

Probably the assembly plant broadcast sequence number.
