The Z 28 we bought came with an engine and transmission in it that we are in the process of pulling.  I'd like help in identifying the transmission.  Case # 3885010, date stamp P0302.  Transmission has the original tag still on it # 9784425.  Any info you have would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you

3885010 is a 66-67 main case and P0302 indicates a March 2nd, 1966 assembly date. However, recheck the 9784425 tag. There's no such number.

I'll jack up the car and take another look.  The bolt is covering half that # but it sure looks like a 9.  I will try to get a picture.

Finally took transmission out of the car.  The main case is 3885010, the tail piece is 3846429, the side cover is a 3884685, the small tag attached to the side cover is 9784425.  Now that the transmission is out there is a # stamped across the top that I can see.  It is a larger font.  250765.  If you would like to see any pictures let me know.  Any help to identify this would be appreciated.

I've seen Pontiacs with the 429 tailhousing (driver's side speedo drive) after '65, but not Corvettes or Camaros - they all used the 584 (pass. side speedo) tailhousing.
