67 master cylinder research question

I'm looking for some info on 67 drum brake master cylinders.
Anyone have an original car and can post the application code (stamped on the pad on the front corner) and the casting part #?

Looking for both power and manual drums (I think they are the same but would like to confirm).

   ...but curious following up on the DATE code,....is it julian? or letter month?
 
    I'm having a tough time reading it (through the mirror),  ...I have what looks like "251" (between those cast 'screw-like' symbols) on my 11B '67.  I have a photo I'll post in the next day or so...

Looks Julian to me. Most m/cylinders are dated Julian from what I've seen.

OK, finally found time. Good news bad news. Cast number is 5452310 with a cast date of 181 which should be June 29 on a 10C car. The pad has no code stamped into it. I cleaned it and used a flashlight  and took my time. There is nothing. This car has been in my possession since September of 1976 and I never changed the MC. One good feature about this car is it was never messed with much and contains most of its original parts. So I assume either the MC has been changed prior to my purchase or if the cast number is correct,  could the person doing the machine work on it have forgotten to stamp it? And then if thats possible, it sure would have laid around for a long time. Sorry I can't be of more help. By the way this is a manual drum car.

I'd guess that it was changed. While they don't fail often, it wouldn't be a surprising warranty replacement item.

Would that cast number have been used for anything other than Camaros, Firebirds and possibly Novas? And would  warranty replacements have commonly not been stamp coded? If that was a new cast number for 67 production, could Delco have been mass producing that MC as early as the end of June 66?

I do know that casting was used across most of the Chevy line and was used for several years. I do not know when that casting was first released.

During this research did you happen to note any visual markings, or obtain any data on, the pistons?  The pistons were apparently coded using rings or grooves in the shank portion.  These "markings" were used, during repairs, to make sure when replacing the piston that the right one was used.

You're right, the manuals mention that I believe.
But I didn't get into that detail.

Thanks.  We see so many questions and problems with brakes that I can't help wonder if with rebuilds that they are putting in pistons that are not Camaro specific.  These rebuilds are 'advertised" to fit several different cars.  If the braking is not right or the pedal effort doesn't "feel" right and all else has been double checked, I would wonder if the master (piston) is the "right application".

I have a post in the originality section about the master cylinder on my 67 RS/SS 350.  The casting number is 5460465 and the stamp is BS which is suppose to be for a 67 Firebird.  I know of another 67 Camaro with the same M/C casting number and stamp.  Both mine and that car are power drum.  I have no idea if mine is original or not.  I have not checked the date codes on mine.  Was this casting number used at the factory in 67?  My car is an 01B.
