Curious if anyone has or can post up photos of an original air cleaner lid, hose to the crankcase vent and flame arrestor.  Photos of the top side and underside of the lid & base if possible.  Thanks, Darrell

I have a '69 big block that was built in Nov. of '68 if that helps. I can take some pics and post when I get a chance.

Here's my 68 L89 (396/375 Aluminum head) air cleaner. (Ignore the 427/425 decals. The engine in the car is now - for the most part - an L72, but the air cleaner assembly is - I believe - original to the car)

Also, the air filter is aftermarket (over the counter Fram)

Ed,
This is very interesting..  What build date is your L89 car? Also the hose on the base going to the flame arrestor...  Is it original as well?  Also does anyone know of how many variations of the printing on the underside of the lid?  I'm wondering if this is a way to track the lids by year or even months..??..

Maybe I should have included open element Z28 cars as well..

My car is a 05D build but the hose is NOT original. I believe there were two versions of the printing, and even differences between "curved" and "straight", but one of the other guys would know more. I'll ask Jerry, John or Troy to comment.

Hey Darrell,

01C X77 - assume it was original since it was on the car in '73 when I bought it, as early as '72 when I first saw it -
