Really interested in this car. What are your thoughts and what's it worth? I think the car looks very nice for a 25 year old restoration. Remember back then there weren't that many being restored yet so I think he did a remarkable job considering. I am currently the leading bidder. My max bid did not meet his reserve but is close to what he said he'll take for it. Just can't decide to go the extra 5K or not. My biggest concern is I want the vinyl top on it and to do that the car requires repainting. Doubt if anyone can match it up just spot painting. I love the fact it is original type paint. Repainting this car would almost be like repainting a nice survivor car. Not what I'd want to do.

Looks like a great car to me, but I'm partial to Yellow Z's (had 4 of them including one now.) No louvers on the rear quarters yet it has the moldings on the wheel wells, but no big deal.
I would say it is at the right money now but sometimes it's not worth arguing over a few thousand to get the right car.
I love the black vinyl top on this color but this car has a "stance" that does look great!

I hope you don't take me wrong but I got a couple "things" that are questionable. Why the new front clip? Was it wrecked? The door to quarter gap on the drivers side is awful. I don't like it. Looks way too wide. The hood seems to be bowed in the center. Can't really see the gaps on the hood to fender but the stripes aren't lined up so that says something is going on. That's just a quick scan. I'd look at it real hard in person if I were about to spend that kind of money. Certificate or no certificate.

if jerry certified the car, ask the seller to see the report. jerry gives a very detailed description of all his findings. also according to the trim tag, it had a vinyl roof.

...Interesting that he won trophies at the Nationals without the vinyl top listed on the trim tag. Wonder what category?
At that price, I would definetely ask for the certification, ask what's happened with the car since (a la Daniel's questions); and maybe, PM Jerry. If you really are close on the bid and have the top bid, one would think he would be willing to dicker...
Obviously, I'd put the vinyl back on it for originality, but I'd also think about driving it the way it is for a while.  As jl8dale says, it has a great "stance".

Unless you planned on welding studs back to the car for the roof trim, why would it have to have paint work to install a Vinyl roof? Am I missing something?
Personally I like cars that have been done for a number of years... issues which were not correctly fixed will begin to show themselves.

The deck stripes have to be redone because they go up further without a vinyl top.

Ahh, the bumble bee car.  I love these and agree they look better with the vinyl top.

However, this one is easy.  If you want a black vinyl top yellow Z, just wait and get one.   While there are numerous little things to nit pick, this car is fine driving it as is.  This would be a huge undertaking, and the chances of screwing it up are pretty good.

Thanks for that bump up side the head... duh!

That could be done given the center panel has two seam lines where you could feather the lacquer edges, it would be nice if there were a pint of yellow lacquer left from the latest paint job... somewhere...
Lacquer can be fixed and blended fairly easily, especially in solid colors as long as the color matches.
If starting from scratch It would take a little time to shoot a few test panels and tint the color however the location makes it easier than trying to match a complete panel, for example a decklid if it were originally with out spoiler etc.
Finding a competent shop will be the problem.

Thanks. Yes the lost POP sucks. He has contacted the owner that lost it. The guy doesn't seem interested in trying to find it. There are pictures of it however but not of good quality.
