1969 Z/28 Original Glass Questions

Even if your side glass is clear, you should install the tinted windshield... (windshield only tint/shade) was an option from the factory..

That is very tempting. The tinted is much cheaper than clear.

Does anyone has an example/photo of 1969 PPG front glass markings? All I've been able to find is LOF.

lol. Thanks Skunk. It's not surprising that I am having trouble finding markings on glass from 43 years ago. Probably not many of those windshields around anymore, especially PPG. I'm hoping to find a Firebird owner somewhere with a good sample. PPG was standard on FBs, with some LOF, vs Camaros which were primarily LOF with some PPG.

Glass is glass, they would have mixed them on the production line. So your WS possibly/probably was LOF.

PPG just was the main supplier to Lordstorn. LOF supplied NOR.

Norwood car. The date correct glass in the car is PPG.

I believe it is the same for the windshield, except the "AS-2" rating would be "AS-1" instead. Not sure about the thickness code. (M20.6)

I have seen a couple of NORcars built late April, early May with PPG windshields. I believe the early May (I think 5A) JL8 I owned had a non tinted PPG windshield.

my 05A norwood car has lof on one side and ppg on the other!

I'm not saying that it couldn't have a PPG WS. But, as Buddy notes on his car, they could and would mix incoming glass.
So a car could have mostly PPG and a LOF WS. Most glass that went to NOR was LOF, so the odds are......
