Voltage Regulator Date vs Car Build Date

I have access to 2 voltage regulators for my restoration, both 1119515, one is 9A and the other 9C. Not sure which (maybe neither?) is the original, and therefore wondering which date would be more appropriate for an 04A VN car? Since the VR production dates cover the entire month, I'm curious to know if they were produced continuously throughout each month, or only in limited batches/runs - in which case it may not be likely that the 9C-dated part would have got to Van Nuys in time. I'm thinking the 9A is probably the more likely date for this part?

Go with the 9C. VR's were built everyday (literally hundreds a day), so either 9C or 9D would work in your case.

My 67's have the original VR's still and the dates are very close to the tag's build date.....

LOS 4B - VR=7C
NOR 5B - VR=7E

Ed I looked at the pictures in the other thread. What's the significance of the pencil mark Kurt pointed out?

QA check marks. Not seen on all VM's but if you look really hard, you might still see them on yours.

I've never checked mine either; but I just did and it's stamped 8A on a LOS 02C build.

Thanks everyone for your replies - will go with 9C on the car and 9A as a spare.

Checked my reg and it's stamped 8F. June '68, correct? Oct '68 build on car. End of '68 production used in early '69 production? It is part no. 1119515.

Wow. That's 4 months. Highly unusual.

Maybe it's not original? Pic attached. Could it be 1979? I know it's not been replaced on my watch which started in 1982.
