Where is the temp sensor located?

Trying to find the temp sensor on my 67 Camaro with a 327.  I think it's supposed to go on the front of the intake just below the water neck but I've read a few articles saying some of them were located on the driver side engine block.  Thanks in advance for any direction.

On a 1967 the AIM shows the sensor in the front driver side of the intake manifold.  It was moved to the cylinder head on the 1968 models.

BTW.....it is UPC 12, sheet A9 on the AIM.

If your '67 has original Heads there won't be a provision for it in the Head.  As you stated it should be in the Intake Manifold by the Water Outlet.  To my knowledge they were never in the side of the Block.

I believe this is one of the difference between 1967 intakes and 1968 intakes.  The later does not have the drilled hole for the coolant temp sending unit it being instead in the driver's side cylinder head.

My 11/15/67 '1069' still has it...  I believe '68 was a "change over" year?

Yeah Dean yours is not in the head, only 69 I think, maybe late 68's.

67's had the sensor in the intake manifold next to thermostat water neck. 68's had the sensor in the driverside cyl head. It's possible that late build 67's could have the sensor in the head.

The early 291 heads had the boss for the temp sensor but wasn't drilled and tapped, I have a set of these. The change over was for early 68.

On 327 '67 Corvettes, the 291 heads began to appear in March-April '67; they had the boss, but it wasn't drilled. At '68 start of production, the boss was drilled/tapped and that's where the temp sender was installed; there was no provision in the '68 intake for the sender.

BBC must be different, as per my '68 model year intake.

Since it affected service and wiring, it would make sense that they timed the change to the model year. It wasn't fixing a big problem, so it wasn't worth doing as a mid-year running change.

Yah, it's all over the place.  My 10/12/67 '9852' doesn't have it...  Though, it is a "newer" design for that year.
