RE N40 steering Box on a z28
Anybody know with the box off the car or steering not attached, how many turns of the steering wheel shaft lock to lock, I am assuming that with it connected it would be less since the spindles would hit the stops.
Would it also be different with z28 short knuckle arms and long pitman arm.
Bottom line I am trying to find (identify) a fast ratio box for a 68 z28
Thanks In advance

Most Z/28s used the standard Camaro/Nova manual box. The faster ratio was accomplished by a longer pitman arm [5.75" c-c] and shorter steering arms.

A Z/28 could be ordered with N44; that did get a different box. It is miserable for normal driving.

Learning more and more about less and less...

I had an unexpected but pleasant discovery when I rebuilt the front suspension on my base V8 '69 RS a few years ago.  During the process I realized that my car has RPO N44 quick ratio steering.

The shorter outer arms on my car clearly have the N44 part numbers cast into them.  My RS also has N40 power steering.

On my car, with both RPO N40 and N44 and everything connected, steering is 2 to 2.2 turns lock to lock.

Bill's reply was for N44, not N40 PS.

There is only one PS box in 69:

My steering box has a white paint blob on the aluminum cap. Mean anything?
