What does the end look like originally for the green wire that goes to the temp sender on the head?  Pictures would really help.  I'm in the process of putting my gauge car back to idiot lights and have the end on the green wire for the gauge type temp sender.

I have no idea if the 68 idiot lights differ from the 69, or even if this pic will help, but here it is anyway. It probably isn't even the end you are inquiring about but maybe others will chime in...good luck.

Which end on the sender looks like the way it came from the factory?

Thanks, I still have one of those.  I'll have to check and make sure it's the open or closed type though.

Does the connector have the plastic end with a slot in it like the picture with the silver looking sender?

Only for a car with gauges - I think he's going back to idiot lights, which uses a "switch", not a variable-resistance (thermistor) sending unit.

My car with gauges and has that unit.  It's a 1969, but I don't think they changed.

I guess I should read a little slower so I can comprehend what the question is.  ::)  My bad !!

My 68 with gauges uses 6400759 as called out in the AIM...  AIM says either 1993426 or 6488708 (opt.) for lights in 68.  Picture in the AIM shows a blade/spade type connector like the far right one in the above picture.

As long as the end looks like 01513321.  I have one that looks like that and I will check to see if it works as "open"," closed".  The one Lectric Ltd. sells a s a "correct" one has a spade end on it and I didn't think that was the way they came originally.

From the other AIMs:

67 AIM:
1993369              Picture is of no help.  But no washer or nut.
6402666   (opt)
1513321   U17     No picture at all.

69 AIM:
6489356              Shows a pin type fitting.
1993369   (opt)    Wierd that it is now the option...
1513462   U17      Shows a washer and nut to hold on a ring.  Makes sense...

The pic on the left is for the 'idiot light' I am very sure......

Well, my AIM shows a spade connector for both the gauge and non-gauge connectors and I don't rally trust the AIM pics.  So anyone have an original idiot light 68 that can say what the end of the temp sender is supposed to look like for sure?  The research and info I came up with for getting the right gauge sender said, that one had a pin end and that's what the wire connector came with from AAW.  Does the idiot light sender have the flat knob end or a spade end?
