I have a 69 copo camaro, paint code 55 azure blue. Was wondering how many code 55 azure blue copos were built? My copo was built 5th week oct. 69 and documented. Was wondering if there is any later built copos? cdengler

Do you have the Paramus NJ  RS/COPO Survivor previously owned by Steve Sandlin?

cdengler,

Here is the '69 GM paint chip chart. I think your Camaro is Azure Torq. Metalic. The 6Th one down on the first column. Azure Blue is Paint Code 80. The light blue chip in the upper right.

There are no build records for 1969 Camaro production. Therefore there is no way to know how many cars were built in a specific configuration.

It is my recollection the former Sandlin 55 B RS COPO was a June or July build so there is at least one in addition to yours. That car is in near-perfect original condition.

This car makes me sick. Gorgeous paint color...looks like black vinyl roof & black interior...great color combo! A Copo, never been touched, and in that condition... must be up there in terms of the best Camaro on the planet?

Thanks Bill

Azure Turquoise L78  ,  nice color as it has more blue than green in it.

One of my customers, Ed Mueller was offered this copo car many years ago for $75K and didn't take it.  It was in the North Jersey for most of its life.  I inspected it when Frank owned it.  Frank flipped it to Steve S. and made a quick 35-40K.  Steve S. flipped it and really made out well with a grand slam.........well over $150K profit.  Think it was sold for $300K.  There were come minor skeletons in the closet with this car but overall, this is probably one of the best surviving examples of a copo car.......and with some neat options and paperwork.

The only other copo in the same originality zip code as this car is the famed Ron Fry copo which is pictured in my Camaro book.

Check out the OE Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires. Not reproduced, impossible to find 5 NOS. Common original equipment tire for a '69 Camaro.

Interesting...Its one of the first things I noticed. I think there was a thread a while back that discussed this, and now there they are in black & white. Any idea on the miles for the car?

Sorry Cdengler...didn't mean to high-jack ya.

Guess who called me to ask about a value on the car before he posted it for sale.  S.  Sandlin.  The car sold that same day he posted it.  I think it went to FL but not sure.  Car had hood pins from what I remember off the top of my head.  It's been "fluffed" as some say in the buz but it's a very nice example and one of the few copos  without a restamped drive train.  Frank owns a body shop and did some nice enhancement on the car.
