Hi everyone,
Been researching these cars for quite some time and finally made the plunge earlier this week, picking up a '67 coupe.

My project is to build an exacting replica of a '67 Z28, perform some very mild modifications, and go race the car with the SCCA.  I go into a bit more detail about it in my blog:

One thing I haven't been able to figure out, is what final drive ratios were available to the Z28 in 1967.  I know the 3.73 was standard.  I've seen conflicting things about the optional ratios.  The 3.53 is okay but I am also interested in running the 4.88.  In my weird case, there don't even have to have been any cars actually delivered with the 4.88, only that it was an available option that year, from the factory.  I've practically memorized the options.pdf from this site - is there any sort of scanned in ancient factory order options sheet or something like that?

I already have all the factory books, and Jerry MacNeish's and a couple other books on order.  Hoping to find the answer.

Thanks so much!

Wow, huge jump - 3.73 to 4.88.  Anyway, I would think that if it was available as an option, one could order it if they wanted.  Jerry's book lists all the usual ratio options...

Box 32 on the '67 Dealer Order Form was for axles - if nothing was checked, you got the standard axle for the engine/transmission combination chosen. If you wanted somethng different, there was a space for the "economy" axle, a space for the "performance" axle, and a box for a "write-in" for a "special" axle where you specified the ratio you wanted. Eight ratios were available and coded, from 2.73 to 4.88.

Yep, I saw that list, but some of the codes apparently weren't actually available despite being listed.  There's this line from the options.pdf that suggests the 4.88 may have only been available in '69:

I don't know about 67 but in 68 4.88 was available in a Z.Jeff

That's not what the RPO list is saying.
In 69, 4.56 and 4.88 were COPO orders. 67 and 68 didn't have production totals for those ratios.

Jerry shows about 10% of 67 Z's had 4.88.

Cool, thanks everyone!  Looking forward to Jerry's book arriving, it should have the documentation I need.
