are you going to be at zmax this year? with the trailer problems last year i was wondering if you gave up on NC

Jerry@CHP

I am going to that race.

I actually was able to move my Pomona entry to the Charlotte race so I will be heading there on March 24.  I will STOP at the weigh station even though I will have to police officers traveling with me.  One is as federal DEA agent but I'm sure with Billy Bob running the scales down there, I'd still get pulled over, and having them with me will not make a difference.

All they need is Barney Fife's 1963 Ford police cruiser and they'll be good to go..........

yea the dmv enforcement guys have been shoved up to the rank as NC state troopers.i guess for state payroll purposes so the blue dmv cars are gone and you will probably see the black and grey trooper cars so be careful. they will really have their head on their shoulders now that they are promoted up to the big guys.

Well, if ya'll (you guys, yuz, which ever fits) are coming to NC, you need to know the rules:

"Here at 'the Rock,' we have two basic rules. Memorize them so you can say them in your sleep. Rule One: Obey all rules! Second, do not write on the walls...as it takes a lot of work...to erase writing...off of walls."  --Barney Fife

Jerry, it will be good to have you back in the Charlotte area.

Heading to Charlotte in the morning for the big race.  Even though I'll had a federal agent police officer in the truck with me, think I'll still stop at the weigh station in NC.  Or should I try what I did last year again?

Was actually a better time last Sept with getting pulled over.  Broke the trans and engine on the very first pass..........expensive weekend, but me and my crew got to hang out in the C. Lingenfelter suite in the fron tower.  Was an awesome race, four wide for the professionals.  Pulling on this engine (spun a bearing when the tranny broke) and installing the other bullet.  Tranny fix was $2600 in parts!  Engine????????/

Bummer!  It's a sport populated by devotees who are consumed by the process of finding the weak links, fixing them, and then finding the next weakest link.

looked like the track had teeth in it i saw some tires ripping away on tv

Race car is going back together for the 15th time this week.  Engine wiped out the rear thrust bearing.  And for a stupid reason.  The Jerico 4-speed that broke in the car is .115" shorter than my back up unit.  So, when we installed the back up tranny, it jammed the crankshaft all the way forward and burned out the thrust bearing.  You would think that for $3300.00 the tolerancing on these gear boxes would be within .0005" or in that zone.  Was not!

I have the back up bullet in the chamber and will try and set the NHRA D/Stock national record this coming weekend.  Stay tuned.

Happy Easter to all,

Jerry
