Any known source for reproduction cowl plenum air cleaner components for a 68 Camaro?
Was this dealer installed add-on really that functional and worth installing if one was found?

Thanks

You can also try Nelson Rudilson. He sells all steel repops. The ones that TA PERFORMANCE sells are made out of fiberglass. Not very correct .If you want a real one I would sell one of mine. Thanks John  Allouez Restorations

I guess it depends how much somebody's willing to pay for one, or for an original when you get down to it.The ones that TA perf resto sells are $950. Shop around!

"This is a very close reproduction assembly in steel and
aluminum of the original cowl plenum and the duct. This part is very durable and will not disappoint in fit and
finish. I have the mold and can reproduce more plenums and ducts on request, The inside of the duct also
has a smooth finish making this reproduction part very difficult to tell apart from the originals with the
exception that this part is better looking and surpasses other similar aftermarket parts that sell for more."

Nelson's are about the best.  And they are nice.  The fiberglas ones are not good and do not look anything like an original.

Thanks everyone for your replies about the availability of this style of air cleaner, but WOW what a cost!
Going to my original 2nd question, did this style of AC provide that more of a performance factor?

The (minor) benefit was colder intake air; the rule of thumb is that you'll get a 1% power increase for every 10*F reduction in intake charge temperature. The other (perceived) benefit is intake roar when the flapper valve opens at WOT. :-)

Somewhere in Smokey Yunicks' book he mentions developing the plenum air intake with Chevy for the '63 Mystery Motor cars he ran at Daytona. He stated at speed it also provides a few pounds of boost.
