This is kind of a two-parter.
1)  I bought a 68 GM fan clutch a while back and put the aftermarket fan I had on that.  The fan was kind of universal, so it fit this clutch.  I didn't really pay attention but I found that the fan clutch spacing, on the fan clutch, was only 3".  Does someone make a repo or does GM have a 3 1/4" fan clutch?
#2)  I finally found a fan that is an 18" 5 blade fan like the original Z28 fan with a 3 1/4" fan clutch spacing.  But it has 5 rivets instead of 4.  What could this be for?

I have had one of those fans also and was told it was a Corvette fan blade. I have looked for 5 years for the correct four rivet fan for my 68 Z but I am not in the position to pay 2000 for the correct set-up. Mine was disguarded years ago for a 7 blade flex fan. I will keep hunting and for now use the 5 rivet blade.

1960-1970 Corvettes used the clutch with the 3" fan attaching bolt circle; it changed to 3-1/4" in 1971. Eaton still makes new clutches in both the 3" and 3-1/4" bolt circle versions - the 3" version is GM #3916141, don't have the part number handy for the 3-1/4".

$2000.00 is cheap in today's market.  Here's an original '68 Z/28 fan and clutch that recently sold on Ebay for $4218.73...

That's more than the whole car cost new!!     ;D

Here's an original '67 Z/28 fan clutch (dated 2-17-67) that recently sold on Ebay for $3419.00...

Well I can forget about ever getting the correct fan for my car unless I come across one at a swap meet and the vendor does not know what it is. I will have to take a copy of that Ebay ad and shows the guys that are kind enough to point out I have the wrong fan on my otherwise completely original Z . I cannot blame the guys that have them for getting as much as they can for them. It guys like me that took our originals off years ago that I can blame for the prices.

Tell me about it, I bet I could part my car out for more than I could sell it whole!!     ;)

Oh well I guess that we can both be happy knowing we do own original 68 Z28s even if we are missing our 4 rivet fans.

I still have the original fan on my '68 Z/28!!     :)

I probably should chain the hood down!!     :(

What's your address Paul?
I will get a picture.  The fan I have says 68 H and FRONT on it just like the 4 rivet ones.

Do you know what these 3 1/4" vette fans said on them?   If you come across the 3 1/4 fan clutch part # I would be very thankful.  No hurry.

I just looked at my fan.  I see the "H" and "FRONT" you mentioned stamped on the front side.  There is also a "W" stamped on the back of the fan.  I don't see the "68" on my fan unless it hidden under the fan clutch.     :P

These fan blades are not date stamped, many of the fan clutches are though.

Thanks Jerry!  That's why I couldn't find the "68" stamp he mentioned, it's not there!  You saved me the trouble of unbolting the fan clutch to check.     :)
