Flat Spots on Head Exhaust Pipes for late build 1969 Z/28?

I am returning my exhaust system to factory correct condition. Car was September, 1969 Norwood built. I know it contained resonators, a tranverse muffler and chrome tail pipes. Did the pipes from the exhaust manifold to the resonators contain any flat spots? I thought they would have flat spots on the top under the crossmember and on the bottom midway down for ground clearance. Is this correct?

Thanks in advance,

John

I beleive they did-at least they do on my 68 SS BB.  Who's exhaust are you installing?  If you want the best "factory" system there is no other than Gardner!  You should check their site, they have photos of most of thier pipes.

GM service replacement exhaust systems rarely matched the systems used on the line. The OE resonator system had the headpipes welded to the resonators. There is only one photo of this that I know of and it appears the head pipes are longer than the service replacements.
