swxxl -

I'm assuming this stamp (P9P09) is stamped on your transmission...

P = Muncie 4-speed transmission
9 = 1969 model year
P = September
09 = day of the month

So what you have is a 1969 Muncie 4-speed transmission assembled on September 9, 1968.     :)

on the cowl tag it has a 10b is that black vinyl top or black stripes ? and why does this tranny not have a C stamped beside the P9P09?

swxxl

i added some more pics of car steering arm and possibly dual exhast brackets?

10 B is 2nd week in October,  the car color code 76 B is Daytona Yellow with a black vinyl top.   C next to the transmission date code is M22.    If you click on the CRG header in the top right of the forum page, you will find great information on the car.    ;)

My 10B Z/28 does not have letter suffix on trans either; Mine is P9P11 within 2 days of this one; Suffix was not added until about 3rd week of Oct 68, I believe. Looks correct to me.

Factory M22s were only installed in HP models such as L78, L89, L72 and Z28.

Kurt, Jerry, anyone....opinions on this ?
My 69 X66 05A car has  the born/w factory M22 vin# stammped trans.
There are no doc's on the car. So would it be safe to say there should be no dispute to my car being a factory built L78 ?
            Thanks Mike

When Jerry came to my house to verify my L78 69 INDY, one of the major proofs that he used was the original born-with M-22......your M-22 trans(assuming original) proofs 100% the car was a solid lifter car...ie... Z28,L78, COPO...I'm no expert, but I thought Id chime in because of the similar situation...correct me if I am wrong...

Yes, based on it in fact being original to the car.
