69 Front valance and fender extension inner finish

Getting ready to spray the front valance and the fender extensions on a 03e Norwood built z. Was the original finish on the inside of the valance and extensions body color overspray on top of black ? or were they all body color ? thanks

Usually, very thin body color overspray over the black dip coat on the valance and extension. Often, grease pencil codes for fender piercing written on the extensions.

What is everyone using to replicate the markings? Chalk, grease pencil, paint stick, something else?
