To Show or not to show License Plate when posting pictures?
What's the general consensus for showing or blocking out your license plate when posting pictures.
And any specific reasons
Thanks in advance

I don't know why people block them out, you see them every day on the vehicles that are on the road. What anybody can do with that information is beyond me. It's not like your giving out your social security number. LOL

I show the plate in any picture. Unless you are a LEO, nobody can look up your plate to get personal information from the DMW.
At least in NY.

I have often wondered what people are hiding by blocking the tag #. CL and fleabay are full of hidden tag numbers.

I understand why some are cautious, especially if they have a valuable/rare/desirable car and are concerned  their name, home address etc could be found if someone with DMV records access was asked for a favour.....
Bigger concern is publicly posting photos that have GPS data embedded, giving location. Many don't even realise.

In NY state, anyone who has the level of access and does a DMV search has their identity recorded in the query process.

Same in PA. I had to run some plates and the DMV had to justify the searches....

To the original topic - Yes, just show the plate.

It may be the typical paranoia that yeah, TODAY there are restrictions to the records, but TOMORROW after the databases are hacked and the DMV only says "Oops...sorry for not having good security".
