68 TH400 dipstick 3905449

I had to purchase a dipstick for my TH400 due to the original one being damaged. Managed to track down a used one and would just like to verify that the length is correct as the zig zag area is a little distorted. When measured from inside the cap where it bottoms on the filler tube to the tip is 24 ¼". Is this correct?

 If this is the same for a 67 TH400 then I can take it out of my car and measure it.

Here area few pictures of my '68 "born with" TH400 dipstick. Note that it does not have a part number stamped on it but it does have the "M" stamp. I found this link which seems to indicate that yours may be a '69 dipstick??

The overall length on my dipstick is 23 1/2 inches.

I read the article from your link Bob and the last post on there says mine is correct for 68 - 73 models with TH400. I'm not fussed either way. The only thing I was worried about is that it wasn't stretched or compressed from its original length.

Trans. oil pan and filter was changed for 68.

Our 69 L78 Nova TH400 dipstick has same script as what Bob showed (no part #) and measured basically 24 1/4".
