My rear side panels were recovered, and the upholsterer left the edge of the vinyl that is covered by the windlace unattached to the fiber board backing. Is that correct and should that material be captured under the windlace, or should the vinyl wrap around the edge of the panel and the windlace then goes on the pinch Weld and panel? They have been off for a while and I don't believe the previous covers were done correctly, so I don't have a good reference. Thanks in advance for any help.

There should be about an inch of material that will fold around the edge of the door jam. Then the pinch welt covers it...Joe

I think the extra material that extends beyond the hard panel is folded over and around the sheet metal joint and glued to the outboard side of the sheet metal & the plastic windlace  pinch trim is slipped &  forced over the two, other wise the extra vinyl will pucker. I have been sanding crusty yellow glue residue from both sides of the sheet metal pinch weld area you are talking about as evidence of the way is was installed.-
Caveat- I have not reinstalled mine yet, still need painting,

Thank you for the replies, that is consistent with the panels that I removed, I just couldn't believe that was the correct way!

Does anybody have a picture of the vinyl material where the top of the windlace and the side panel come together? I am not sure how to wrap the vinyl material at the top where the windlace and the interior window felt meet. Thanks again in advance for any help.

I would also appreciate some guidance as to how the carpet and the bottom of the panel trim out. Does the carpet go underneath the side panel? There was about an inch flap on the bottom that was left unattached and I wasn't sure if that may have been over the top of the carpet or what. Without a interior installation manual, some of this as being left to the imagination!

It would go under the quarter décor panel just as it would go under the kick panels in the front....Joe
