Timing Chain - Double or Single Roller?

Since I will need to rebuild my engine, an old topic has resurfaced.  Double or single roller timing chain?  Some say the double roller is better because it can absorb more crank harmonics and it is stronger.  Some say the single roller is stronger because the teeth are thicker.  Having lost a couple teeth on a double roller (pic below), I'm looking for opinions....

 Probably depends on how you plan on driving the car. Myself, I installed a single link chain in my L35.
My holeshot days have been long over.  :)

What happened to your car? How loose was the chain?

I like stuff that's overbuilt, I run a gear drive. :)

double roller, the gear on the distributor will break before one of those will, I know from experience , lol

Not sure how this happened. It was just discovered during the tear down.

It does not matter much either way.  Not a common failure once you get rid of the nylon gear teeth that were originally there.  I used the factory HD pieces years ago but they are long gone now.

If you break either one before the chain wears out something is wrong. I had a Pontiac that would shuck one about every 5k miles. Turned out to be the aftermarket cam.

I used a single link in my 327 which gets run hard on occasion and will probably use one in my L48. I had a straight cut gear drive when I was a kid but I threw that obnoxious thing in the garbage.

Use either, just don't get the cheapest one.

Gear drive might be a bit loud, but it is not likely to break. :)

Not designed to run on a street car though.
