More Info. on Steering

Is there any place on line or in an available book that gives greater detail (especially in layman's terms) about the recirculating ball type steering than the Chasssis Service Manual?  My searches haven't turned up much... 

(I don't have a problem... just trying to learn a bit.)

Would appreciate being "steered in the right direction".
