Just thought I would list all of what I know this car had originally at this point, from the tag.

E - Tinted all glass
2ZG - TH400 3-speed automatic transmission (M40) with console (D55)
3SL - Special Interior (Z21) and Rally Sport Package (Z22)
4N - 396/325 hp engine (L35)

Other options -
J52 - Brakes, front disc, rear drum (includes rally wheels (ZJ7) in 67)
N40 - Power Steering

I am still trying to get in contact with the guy that owned the car from 1980 to 2001.

Also working on getting a jig built to put the car on while the frame rails are replaced.  Trunk pan and gas tank were replaced 20 years ago and are still in great shape.

Nice project.  Glad to see a thread about something other than a 69 Z on the site.

Initially I was not thrilled with this car and was going to pass.  The low production numbers for big block Camaros in 1967 made me decide this was going to be worth the time and effort to restore.

There were only 4,003 L35 cars in 1967 - and only 1,453 cars with L35 and M40 in 1967.

My 67 L35 convertible was in such bad shape that the guy who towed it, and my wife, laughed at it when I brought it home.
They said "you bought this piece of sh*t"?
But, the car 'hooked' me...sort of like Christine.
I didn't realize how low in production it was at that time.
I like watching as they eat their words now.  ;)

One of the first Camaros that stuck in my head from '67 was a local TT coupe with black custom interior . I never saw the car dirty in all the years it was around. Good color combination.

I tried to buy two other 1967 L35 coupes, both 4 speed cars, in the past 6 months. But neither one worked out. I guess as they say "third time's a charm".

Found out the transmission is the original one for the car.  It had the later design TH400 pan not like the one used early. I think the changeover was in late June.

Cross member and driveshaft are original too.

Did you find a partial VIN stamp on the TH400, Bryon?

No partial that I could find. At least not in the normal location. But date is perfect for the car.

I can not find the partial on my TH400 either (as close as I can look while the TH400 is still in the car)and the ID tag is correct and the original owner said it was never out of the car when I bought it back in 1980. When I start to restore that car, the transmission is one of the first things I'm going to remove so as to reseal it before use, and I'll have a better look around the rest of the body for a stamp.

Warren, the Impala guru says he doesn't think ANY TH400s were stamped with a partial in 67 (at any plant). I think inagree with him.

The earliest pic I have of a TH400 partial, is on a 68 LOS car assembled October of 67.

We will have to see if any 67s TH400s with partial VINs show up.
