hey guys,

ive been reading this thread and i realized that i know of a 68 z thats been sitting for years at a local body shop.It is missing the original motor and trans. As the story goes, the car has only 2500 original miles. I was at the garage and I noticed the car way back in the day and I was trying to see the car up close for over 15 years, but the shop owner is one of them old time guys that hoards everything and thinks everyone is just out to rob him. Lo and behold, about 2 years ago, an old friend of mine called and told me he now worked at the shop and that the owner would take an offer on the car. I "quickly" went there and checked the car out. It is a blue with blue interior car and it is actually an RS also. It has a different front end on the car. The shop owner said it had gotten wrecked by a young kid back in the 60's and the car got towed into his shop. Thats probably when the motor got changed also...it now has a 327 in it if i recall correctly. He says the milage is true. He found a used front end from a non rs car and installed it and painted it...at which point he never got paid and ended up taking possession by getting the title to the car from the owner. I do remember checking the glove box and the car has the 15" tire sticker. Anyway, unfortunately, the car has been sitting outside all these years:( these NE winters have really taken thier toll.If only this guy would have let me buy the car when I first saw it :( I made an offer that seemed high to me, but when he mentioned that these low mile cars were selling at Barrett Jackson for 100k, I knew I was out of the running. He never told me what he wanted, but my buddy told me he would take 20k...I thought at the time that was outrageous...I'm thinking now, that maybe its not so outrageous if I could find the original motor.Anyway, I will go back there and 'beg' to see the car again. If I can, i will get the numbers and some pics and see if there might be another needle in the haystack in the world!!
