Also according to trim tag car was originally a column shift car, perhaps it could have been an original 6 cylinder car and someone without a lot of knowledge switched vins tags to make it a V8. Vin Tag is definitely upside down.

Yup, pretty pricey. The only one that is correct for 69 as mentioned is the one that says that reads "putting you first... keeps us first". Not the "putting you first in a big way",  that puts you into the 70's. See America is an earlier 60's plate.

I just purchased this M20 for a 55 150 project.
Is the car still out there?

Decoding/Numbers / Distributor codes
Last post by mrile - February 10, 2026, 09:01:18 PM
Looking for some help on distributors.  I looked all over the site for coding (part numbers) information on distributors but can't find anything.  Can someone point me in the right direction or have the information?
I have a 1969 L6 230ci (I know the engine is original), & I think it has the original distributor (1110499) but I am looking to confirm.

Also, how to de-cipher the date code would be helpful.  Thanks in advance.

This would be the correct promo plate for 1969 Chevrolet cars. One year only.. 69 into 70. If you want an original one.. be prepared to buck up. Not cheap. I searched for a good while and paid over 250 for this one to put on my car

I'd tend to install them - at this point the original springs are probably a bit tired.

No plate was included from the dealerships - many states have/had front plate requirements.

General Discussion / 69 Pace Z11 Promotional front ...
Last post by djhollywood - February 10, 2026, 06:00:35 PM
I recently acquired a 69 Z11 Pace Car and it's all original.  The seller ended up keeping the promotional license plate (dealer/chevrolet) that was a U-S-A-1 "See America's First" that he said he bought.  I was told that each dealership had 1 z11 that they could sell and that it came with a promotional front license vanity plate.

I am asking what would be the correct promotional front plate that the 69 z11 pace car would have come with?  Thanks!
