My car still has the machinal linkage from the transmission to the steering column.

To start the car it has to be in reverse with the clutch in.

The two purple wires are on top of steering column next to the firewall.

This issue started at a car show where someone recommend tapping the starter and low

and behold it started. So I assumed solenoid I replaced but still dead. Bench tested

starter worked fine. At a loss for where to look next.

Thanks

Is there any info on the Clutch pedal switch on steering column?

Part of starter system with 2 purple wires. I guess it keeps you from starting car in gear.

My car will not start and I am wondering if there is an issue with this switch.

Where is it and how do you get to it?

I have had my car for 8 years or so and have noticed that some of the cars interior panels are vinyl and some are ABS plastic. I presume they where vinyl covered originally. I am thinking of redoing the interior, which is best. My car has an orange interior, what did the original door cards look like and where might I find them.
Any info would be appreciated.

WOW! Great information!
What was the reasoning for building 3 different engines with the same block?
Just to have options or were the other reasons?

What is changed to effect HP on the 396 Cu engine?  Cam, Carb, Lifters?
Just curious or is it something else?

What advantage do you see with newer coil and points set up? Any performance enhancement? I have 396 with original points and coil.

Where would I look to see why my garage smells like gas after parking in my garage after a cruise?
Should I have the carburetor rebuilt? There is no visible leak by carb or intake.

Looking to find a passenger side square after market mirror to match the remote drivers side mirror on my 69 Camaro. Anyone ever see one? I purchased a pair of round ones and may just replace both and disable remote control on drive side door. Any Ideas appreciated. Was it an option in 69?

Thanks everyone! I think I will try and do both as I am coming from Florida and hope to do a road trip through the battle grounds and historical sites. You have been a great help.
