Method to recovering VIN on front pad of engine ...... saved from April 2000. Hopefully it can easily be read.

C-clips can be bought at Lowes, Home Depot, Ace hardware.....generally any good big-box location. They uually have them sorted by thickness and/or dimension. you could also try at McMaster-Carr....they carry just about anything you would ever need in the way of hardware. Any of these stores could probably help you with your need. They are also lot cheaper than any "parts house" supplier you may use. Good luck.

The picture that BigFish posted shows that the J-Hook has also been painted. That's not original.

Yep.... same old crap happening again. Been this way since yesterday.

I don't see any factory broach marks on that block, and I'd be suspicious of any stamped numbers on that pad.....JMO.

So glad everything seems to be working in the 'back-to-normal' configuration this morning. Thanks to whomever made the changes to get this to happen.
