General Discussion / Re: 1969 Z28 124379N625723 on BAT

Well, I think Jerry's fees just went up! and that price makes no sense to me in this market, maybe if it had a documented JL8 set up or if it were a Sub 20k mile survivor maybe??

That's my point! the new chemical strippers don't do a good job which intern allows the paint removal without damaging fiberglass and plastics, unlike the now banned Methylene Chloride removers in the past which if left on too long could ruin the Gel Coat. The new ones are a real PITA needing many applications and won't even phase Epoxy sealers, I just stripped a '59 Vette and had to mechanically sand the original factory base sealer after stripping the lacquer topcoat and primer.

I use what they call aircraft remover from just about any auto place, it is water based unlike the old "Good " paint strippers and won't usually go down past the primer, then I use a fine sandpaper to take it down to the plastic, the other method would be to soda blast it if you have a blaster.

I just finished my '69 Z with a cross ram setup and it responds just like in the video, it's a bit scary when you exceed 45K RPM range, it just wants to take off! and like the one on BAT it like to idle around 1,200 RPM's and really loves to drink the high-octane fuel.

That's a good question that I have asked before, since I remember a friend back in the '70's that had a RS-Z-28 without the Rally Sport emblem on the fender and it was a very original car, and my RS-28 had the RS emblem so IMO, I believe some RS-28's came that way.

Yes, he will! He is one of the retired car guys that does this for the passion not the profit and will take the time to explain details, he took over Pete Lindahl's business when he passed away, the Corvette guys would remember him he was also a great guy and resource for the hobby. I just wish I had an engine builder like that close by! Key's are a lot easier to ship than a motor!

I would recommend Steve Walker, he is a NCRS judge, and he has done keys for a couple of my Camaro's and just finished a set for my '59 Vette, he has a large collection of original GM NOS keys, ignition parts and locks, he will make sure they will pass NCSR PV judging, and his prices are very reasonable, his phone number is 505-573-6363.

I spent 3 days at the auction and checked out most of the Camaros, I think the ZL1 was about all the money considering that it had a column shifter, rebodied non-original engine! The Z-28 cross ram cars had re-pop manifolds, hoods and carbs, you can buy that set-up for around 6K, I can't see those driving the prices up that much unless it's an unknowing buyer.

No offense taken, as a matter of fact the guy I bought it from had did a repaint in the Dark green with the white stripes, didn't look bad with the Dark green interior just not the popular high impact colors, I guess if I was planning to sell it I would have done a color change, but you know the old saying; Love the one your with!

Funny you should mention that, I'm the owner of the Frost Green one and 40 years ago I was going to change the color to either Hugger Orange or Lemans Blue, but after seeing so many Camaros in those colors and becoming somewhat of a purist , I decided to stay with the factory color, mainly because it has the original Midnight green interior that is in pristine condition and I didn't want to replace it with a reproduction set, but I have to say that out of the four Camaros I own, three which are all Blue, the '67 being Marina and two '68's in Lemans Blue I get the most compliments on the Frost Green '69! Go figure.?
