Here is an old link describing the car:

Looks like it was silver at one point.

And here is the link to the actual Russo Steele auctions results. It has a few more pics of the car when it was silver. Also mentions the rear axle not being original to the car

Not the first time Browns has misrepresented cars. Heres another that was discussed
http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=14669.msg129847#msg129847

I sold my Z @ BJ las Vegas in 2015 one of the first things I did when I got there was to check out the competition. There was another "real Z" that was there that had an obvious fake trim tag. It was only a matter of hours before the original description on the windshield was removed and replaced with a new one that only called the car a Camaro coupe. I assume that it was flagged by JM.

Faking the engine is easier than faking the Canadian documentation.

X2... The documents thenselves can be faked/forged but a potential purchaser can order up their own copy of the Canadian Docs for verification. I was able to get the Canadian docs for my Z and I also had Jerry M verify the car. When I sold it at BJ I really played up the fact that I had both and I got a strong price.

Way to go guys.   Frankly, I am surprised that Mecum changed the wording on the description.   They have historically relied on the "representation" of the owner, even if it is obvious the owner is either misinformed, lying, or both.

I have become suspect of the pedigree of any car selling at Mecum or coming out of Florida with "documentation".

For what its worth nothing has changed with Mecum, I just got back from the Indy auction and this time they had a big block convertible with a bogus trim tag. Lot S165

The point is that there is a reason it is not bringing big bids or selling

Not bringing big bids or selling? Sold for $150k (plus commission) at the Kissimmee auction. Sounds pretty big to me.

Sold at auction for $150,000...Anybody else notice that depending on how the light hit it and/or the camera angle it looked like Cortez Silver?  :)

Well...The infamous Evening Orchid Z28 just sold at the Mecum auction for $150,000 so somebody is willing to pay more for a rare color..  :).

I had a Z11 vin of 610431. It was a 2D car.

Dean
Hmmm. Maybe someone can shed some light on that. Sure it's not a 3D?
I see now that the Pace cars might have ran at the end of February, so possibly not included in the VIN numbers ending at 607164 as I thought I understood.
So now I'm wondering when my Z was built

Pretty sure I know the answer to this. There were no 3A cars. Trim tags went straight from 2D to 3B. All the cars from 607xxx to 614xxx that should have been tagged 3A were tagged as 2D.

How does one go about contacting Jerry to do a certification? I'm sure he's extremely busy. Is email better or by phone call?

It's been around a couple of times. Here's one - http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=227674

LOL Looks like I started a thread on this car a couple of years ago when I was new. Thought maybe it was a fake because of the BB heater core, I should have been more concerned about the 12A tag with an X code. Guess I've learned a thing or two...

I'm going to be there Aug 5-7 but leaving the Camaro home this time. We should set up a CRG get together...
