As Hawk suggests, the GM OE designed ammeter is actually a millivolt meter and indicates the voltage drop between the horn relay buss bar and battery junction block of the red wire installed.

One would need an aftermarket ammeter and #8 AWG wire and install ammeter between the disconnected red OE wire and the relay buss bar.

The wire from the firewall connector to ign coil is a resistive wire - cloth covered by GM design.

You are correct, Chuck.  OE design has the VR next to the washer fluid bottle. and driver side headlamp.

When removing bows:
1. Label bows front-to-back in keeping order of OE install.
2. Mark each hole bow is installed, both sides, as they can be different per side for the same bow.
3. Stock frig with adult refreshment before the job and check refreshment temperature after finishing ensuring frig is doing its job.

Yes, the holes have to be large enough for an assembled clip install.
I bought a couple flea market 9/16 box end wrenches and heated and bent them to fit into hole and place box end over nut to hold.
You will need two different lengths of bending, but worked great for removing/installing bolts.
Coat threads with anti-seize for later in life usage.

Apparently, my mistake on GM (Chev) engines). Some manf's are a blind hole for releasing air when driving dowel in place.

Certainly the person is going to check the hole configuration for a relief flat needed or not.
Put dowel pins in freezer for easier insertion.

Let me get the next round of ice cream.

I always used steel shim gaskets and I would prepare the head surface and block deck with a new honing stone and WD40 to lube.
Remove dowel pins and hone away until surface scratches are gone all most a mirror finish - very smooooth.
Then file a flat on dowel pins the length as this action lets air escape when installing pin.
Honing stone is the same stone used to sharpen/hone your pocket knife, use the light colored side.
Wipe off WD40 on all surfaces and cylinder bores.

As suggested, use washers  as spacers between the T/conv & plate.
