I think what you are saying is that you think you can hear the solenoid in the valve body working when powered through the switch.  If this is true then I would initially suspect that your modulator is either not adjusted properly (if its an adjustable unit) or the wrong modulator.  Here is a link to adjusting the modulator.  https://www.chevelles.com/threads/how-much-to-adjust-vacuum-modulator.146481/

Thanks for posting the pictures.  The cars at Hershey this year were awesome!  My car is the butternut 67 convertible with the yellow interior.  Had a great time.

I'm looking at several different variations of the 1967 GM convertible folding top manual and I wonder which one is correct for a late Nov. 66 car?  I have seen a green, blue and red one.  Also what about editions, does anyone know if there were multiple editions?  Thanks.

Yes the yoke assembly is removable with taking the rear end assembly apart.  What you do is drop the driveshaft and then scribe the pinion nut and the pinion to note the location of the nut on the pinion shaft.  Then using an impact gun take off the pinion nut.  The yoke will then come off but it may take a little wiggling to get it free from the pinion splines.  Putting it back together is the same procedure in reverse however be careful not to go past or much past your scribed lines when tightening the pinion nut or you'll possibly end up crushing the pinion crush sleeve even further and mess up your rear end adjustment.  I recommend reinstalling the pinion nut with a long handle rachet and only using the impact of necessary to get that last half or quarter turn to get the pinion nut back to it's starting place.

Also if you have a leaky pinion​ seal it's best to replace that during this process too.  Good luck.

You will want to check with your paint jobber for their particular paint preparation requirements for their products but generally speaking you will need to apply a sealer over the lacquer.

I'm referring to my notes from my conversations years ago with Jim Shea (retired Saginaw steering gear).  1968 had one steering box and it was 17.5:1 with 31 degrees of travel from center or 62 degrees of total travel as you have measured you box to be. 

One might think that all first generation power steering boxes are the same but they are not. 

1967 had two boxes, both with 17:5:1 ratios but one had 87 degrees of travel while the other had 70 degrees of total travel.

1969 was a variable rate box 16-12.4:1 with 64.5 degrees of total travel.

The length of the standard exhaust manifold bolts is 2 1/4".

This car has obviously been sitting for a LONG time.  Why would someone take the time to source the parts for a big block heater core and box cover and install it in this car and keep the six cylinder.  If the heater core went bad why wouldn't they have simply replaced it with what was in there already?  Interesting

I will be there Saturday with my 67 RS convertible.  Yellow with yellow interior, white top.  Hershey is one of the great shows, I enjoy it more and more every year!!

As you have already seen by the responses to your question the answer is truly state specific.  Be ware of the agencies out there that promise you a title by registering the car in another state and then transferring the registration to you.  This could get you in a lot of hot water with both DMVs.  There is a statement on nearly every DMV form that states that the information you are submitting is true and correct and not misleading.  Also by "going around the process" you are not extinguishing the outstanding title rights that someone else may have in the car.  Just an FYI.

Chick, can't wait to see your Z in person.  The build looks amazing.  I can empathize with your problems.  My car was a bare shell in April!!  I'm just glad it'll be in Frederick!
